Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support projects from estimating and preconstruction through client acceptance, while helping guide and develop project team members.

Project Details

Mortenson works across markets including sports, renewable energy, data centers, and healthcare.

Responsibilities

• Support project cost control, financial management, estimating, scheduling, scope coordination, and project documentation.
• Assist with proposals, contracts, subcontract awards, project buyout, and subcontractor coordination.
• Guide project engineers and field engineers, mentor team members, and support safe, timely project delivery.
• Oversee subcontractor and supplier budgets, facilitate coordination meetings, and implement project quality plans.
• Take on project manager duties for smaller scopes as needed.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• At least five years of related experience and a current driver’s license.
• Ability to support complex projects, organize multiple tasks, and apply a basic understanding of construction law and business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web application skills.
• Strong communication, customer service, listening, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to travel up to 100%.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $102,000-$137,700, with location-based increases for specified offices, and eligibility for Mortenson’s incentive plan. Benefits include medical, dental, retirement matching, paid leave, insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and other wellness and work-life resources.
