Project Engineer

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Project Engineer to help resolve field coordination issues and support project teams. Openings are available at Project Engineer 1 and 2 levels.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and specifications for subcontractors and craft workers, and support quality planning, permits, testing, and inspections.
• Track materials, inspections, concrete placements, and non-conformance reports; manage submittals and contract documents.
• Prepare and distribute RFIs and change orders, maintain as-built documents, and coordinate subcontractor requirements.
• Build collaborative relationships and support team members through coaching and feedback.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, construction management, or equivalent experience.
• Project Engineer 1 requires at least two years of related experience; Project Engineer 2 requires at least three years.
• Current driver’s license, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks.
• Basic understanding of construction law and business practices; strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project applications, and relevant web applications.

Compensation and Benefits

Project Engineer 1 base pay is $84,100-$113,500; Project Engineer 2 base pay is $93,400-$126,100. Pay varies with experience and location, and the position is eligible for an incentive plan.
