Project Engineer I - Project Controls

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Project Engineer I to support field coordination, project controls, and construction quality management. The role works with project teams, subcontractors, and other participants to resolve coordination issues.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and specifications, administer project and contract documents, and coordinate permits, RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
• Maintain project tracking and quality records, coordinate testing and inspections, and escalate nonconforming results.
• Support schedule execution, closeout, safety compliance, subcontractor coordination, and field engineer development.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management.
• At least two years of related construction experience.
• Current driver’s license, strong organization and communication skills, and a basic understanding of construction law and business practices.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $84,100–$113,500, with location-based increases in select markets. The role is eligible for an incentive plan. Benefits include medical, prescription, vision, dental, retirement matching, paid leave, insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and wellness resources.
