Assistant Project Manager - Power Generation (Traveling)

Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking an Assistant Project Manager to support industrial construction projects, with a preference for power generation experience. This traveling role assists the Project Manager with administrative, financial, procurement, and field coordination activities.

The position supports industrial power generation work and may involve assignments requiring travel.

Responsibilities

• Manage smaller projects independently or support larger projects under a Project Manager.
• Maintain schedules, project plans, status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments.
• Prepare, negotiate, and administer subcontractor, vendor, and owner change orders within delegated authority.
• Support preconstruction, buyout, scopes of work, subcontract agreements, and purchase orders.
• Track material and equipment deliveries and communicate schedule impacts to the project team.
• Coordinate RFIs, resolve issues with project partners, and help deliver projects on schedule and within budget.
• Assist with proposals, presentations, and other project management activities.

Required Experience

• Industry-related college degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Two to five years of construction project management experience.
• Power generation experience is preferred; LEAN principles experience is desirable.
• OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 is preferred, with willingness to obtain the credential after hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook, plus the ability to learn platforms such as JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, and Asta.
• Strong communication, negotiation, leadership, organization, judgment, problem-solving, and construction knowledge.
