Assistant Safety Director

Job Summary

Holder Construction is seeking an Assistant Safety Director to support projects in Conesville, New Albany, and Franklin Furnace, Ohio. This role leads safety planning, field execution, and development of safety personnel on complex construction work.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety planning with project managers, superintendents, trade partners, and clients.
• Coach and develop Safety Coordinators and Senior Safety Coordinators.
• Plan and oversee controls for high-risk work, including crane and rigging operations, critical lifts, energy isolation, and work at height.
• Review job hazard analyses, means and methods plans, lift plans, and energy-control procedures.
• Lead incident investigations, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions.
• Support preconstruction risk assessments, staffing, and performance management for safety personnel.
• Apply Energy-Based Safety principles and focus on serious-injury-and-fatality risk reduction.

Required Experience

• OSHA 30 is required; OSHA 500 is preferred.
• ASP, CSP, or CHST certification is required or must be in progress.
• Experience supporting high-risk construction activities such as crane and rigging operations and LOTO.
• Demonstrated ability to lead safety efforts on large or complex construction projects.
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
