Assistant Safety Manager - Night Shift

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is hiring an Assistant Safety Manager to support a proactive safety culture across Central Region construction operations, with an initial six-month night-shift assignment in St. Louis.

Project Details

The role supports large healthcare, commercial, industrial, mission-critical, and similar construction projects throughout the Midwest.

Responsibilities

• Administer site safety programs and help subcontractors and employees maintain compliant work practices.
• Perform documented safety and health inspections at least twice monthly and coordinate follow-up reporting.
• Partner with project supervision on protective equipment, first-aid supplies, postings, and required safety documentation.
• Investigate injuries, illnesses, near misses, and accidents while coordinating corrective actions and OSHA records.
• Lead weekly toolbox meetings and enforce safety policies and corrective measures.
• Maintain and submit safety plans, inspection records, meeting documentation, correspondence, and related reports.

Required Experience

• At least three years managing safety activities on large construction projects.
• A related bachelor's degree is preferred.
• OSHA 500 and BCSP certifications are preferred.
• Experience with safety orientations, substance-abuse programs, incident investigations, and near-miss reporting.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work across management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
