Senior Safety Specialist

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Safety Specialist to coordinate and implement field safety programs across routine and complex construction projects in Kansas City. This role reports into the safety leadership team with a career path toward Safety Manager.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular site walk-through inspections to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety regulations.
• Identify, document, and recommend abatement of hazardous conditions using internal safety management systems.
• Lead project-specific new hire orientation and oversee drug and alcohol policy compliance.
• Monitor prime contractor and subcontractor safety program implementation.
• Support accident investigations, determine root cause, and compile injury progress reports.
• Perform trend analysis to identify problem areas and recommend mitigation strategies.
• Manage controlled insurance program projects and assist during insurance audits.
• Develop and deliver safety training through classroom, digital, and on-the-job formats.
• Oversee one or more large or complex projects simultaneously.

Required Experience

• 5+ years of construction safety experience required.
• Bachelor's degree in a safety or health-related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.
• Advanced verbal and written communication skills.
• Intermediate proficiency in MS Office and construction technology platforms.
• Knowledge of environmental hazard testing protocols and ability to enforce all applicable safety regulations.
• Valid and unrestricted driver's license required.
