Assistant Safety Manager - Night Shift

Job Summary

McCarthy Building Companies is seeking an Assistant Safety Manager to support a proactive safety culture and administer safety programs across Central Region projects. The role requires working night shift for six months.

Project Details

Projects may include healthcare, commercial, industrial, mission-critical, and similar construction work throughout the Midwest.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate safety efforts with subcontractors, employees, and project supervision, including orientations and required safety documentation.
• Conduct and document site inspections, coordinate compliance reporting, and help ensure protective equipment and first-aid supplies are available.
• Investigate injuries and incidents, track OSHA-related records, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Lead or coordinate weekly toolbox meetings and maintain safety plans, inspection records, and related documentation.
• Enforce safety policies and help reduce construction hazards.

Required Experience

• At least three years managing safety on large construction projects.
• A related bachelor's degree is preferred.
• OSHA 500 and BCSP certifications are preferred.
• Ability to administer orientations and substance-abuse programs and investigate and report injuries, illnesses, and near misses.
• Strong communication, organization, decision-making, and problem-solving skills; able to work with management, owners, trades, and subcontractors.
