Bridge Superintendent

Job Summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Bridge Superintendent to lead field execution and coordinate crews, project partners, and resources on bridge construction work in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The role focuses on highway-heavy construction, including bridge structures and structural concrete work.

Responsibilities

• Make jobsite safety a priority and oversee hiring, training, and development of craft employees.
• Coordinate crews, project staff, contractors, suppliers, and client communications.
• Track schedule progress and ensure work meets drawings, specifications, contract requirements, and quality expectations.
• Support work planning, staffing, materials, schedules, and equipment needs while monitoring costs against budget.
• Flag and help resolve project risks, work conflicts, and schedule issues.
• Lead and delegate across the field team to deliver productive, high-quality work.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of foreman or supervisory experience in highway-heavy construction.
• Strong knowledge of bridge construction, structural concrete, forming, concrete placement, and finishing.
• Experience managing crews of 20 or more and understanding cost management, planning, and scheduling.
• Effective written and verbal communication, attention to detail, motivation, and time-management skills.
• Valid driver's license and ability to perform physical work in a construction-site environment.
