Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Superintendent 3 to lead moderately complex commercial construction projects in Charlotte. This role directs field operations from planning through closeout while supporting safe, timely, quality-driven, and profitable project delivery.

Project Details

The position manages stand-alone commercial projects or major project portions, including construction sequencing, field staffing, subcontractor coordination, scheduling, quality control, and project closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Direct subcontractors, field staff, suppliers, site logistics, workflow, and construction sequencing.
  • Lead safety efforts, investigate incidents, reinforce training, and promote an injury-free work environment.
  • Create and maintain project schedules in partnership with project management.
  • Lead daily, trade, owner, architect, and project review meetings.
  • Manage project documentation, reports, drawings, logs, inspections, materials, equipment, and timecard approvals.
  • Monitor quality, self-perform work, project risks, changes, costs, and schedule impacts.
  • Coordinate pre-punch and closeout activities with owners, architects, and authorities.
  • Support project pursuits, client relationships, staffing, recruiting, buyout, and future business development.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or GED required; a construction management, engineering, or related bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • At least 8 years of construction experience and 5 years of field supervision experience.
  • Working knowledge of construction means and methods, scheduling, project management systems, accounting software, construction technology, Lean practices, trades, self-perform work, and labor productivity.
  • Advanced layout, crane flagging, and rigging knowledge is required.
  • Intermediate communication, presentation, collaboration, budgeting, scheduling, and document-change analysis skills.
  • Valid unrestricted driver's license required, with the ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work non-traditional hours as project needs require.

Compensation and Benefits
