Building General Superintendent

Job Summary

Tutor Perini Civil-East is hiring a Building General Superintendent to lead field operations at a major bus terminal project in Midtown Manhattan.

Project Details

The work includes a bus terminal, structures, platforms, passenger facilities, and related transportation infrastructure. Experience with projects valued above $250 million is required.

Responsibilities

• Direct daily construction activities and coordinate subcontractors, trades, suppliers, and site staff.
• Develop and update schedules, track progress, and coordinate the timely staging of materials and equipment.
• Enforce site safety requirements, lead safety meetings and inspections, and address hazards.
• Monitor workmanship against plans, specifications, codes, and quality standards, and resolve deficiencies.
• Oversee site logistics, utilities, temporary facilities, and environmental controls.
• Coordinate with project teams and serve as the on-site contact for owners, consultants, inspectors, and agencies.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; a degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
• 15+ years of civil or commercial construction experience, including at least five years as a superintendent for a heavy civil general contractor.
• Transportation project experience, such as bus terminals or transit centers, is strongly preferred.
• Proficiency with construction management software and scheduling tools, and ability to interpret plans and specifications.
• OSHA 30-hour Construction Safety Certification and First Aid/CPR certification required; NCCER or LEED certifications are a plus.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range is $300,000-$350,000, depending on experience.
