Civil Superintendent

Job Summary

Ames Construction is seeking a Civil Superintendent to lead civil crews and oversee safe, on-schedule, budget-conscious field operations at its Farmington, New Mexico project. The role is safety-sensitive and may involve work on subsequent projects nationwide.

Project Details

Ames delivers heavy civil and industrial work, including infrastructure projects such as highways, bridges, dams, and rail, as well as mining projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct and inspect daily civil construction work, coordinate crews and subcontractors, and hold subcontractors accountable for results.
• Develop and manage schedules, including two-week lookaheads, and establish processes that keep work on track.
• Maintain jobsite safety, security, reports, logs, meeting records, photographs, and other required documentation.
• Interpret construction drawings and related documents, communicate project details to clients, and provide physical labor when needed.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least seven years of commercial construction superintendent experience.
• OSHA 30-Hour certification, knowledge of OSHA requirements, and a valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle record.
• Ability to read blueprints, CAD drawings, and layouts; understand construction equipment and safe operating practices; and use Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint proficiently.
• Strong communication, time-management, and problem-solving skills; able to work weekends or nights and travel as needed.
