Concrete Field Engineer - Heavy Civil and Marine Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit is seeking a Concrete Field Engineer to support hands-on field operations for heavy civil, bridge, marine, and structural concrete construction in and around Savannah.

Project Details

The Marine and Heavy Civil District delivers infrastructure such as bridges, marine structures, foundations, tunnels, canals, dams, piling, docks, piers, dredging, concrete paving, and waterfront facilities across public and private-sector projects.

Responsibilities

• Support daily structural concrete and marine construction activities and help superintendents sequence field work.
• Coordinate craft labor, subcontractors, survey teams, suppliers, and project management.
• Interpret plans, specifications, shop drawings, and contract documents for accurate installation.
• Track quantities, production, labor, equipment, materials, costs, and schedule progress.
• Prepare RFIs, submittals, field work packages, daily reports, look-ahead plans, and change-order documentation.
• Assist with layout using GPS, total stations, and survey control systems.
• Coordinate concrete placement, mix verification, testing, and quality records.

Required Experience

• Degree in construction management, civil engineering, or a related field.
• One to three years of infrastructure or heavy civil construction experience preferred.
• Interest in marine, bridge, canal, dam, tunnel, earthwork, pipeline, and structural concrete construction.
• Ability to read construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies.
• OSHA certification is preferred, along with a strong commitment to construction safety.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Willingness to work more than 40 hours per week, including overtime and weekends as needed, and relocate during the career.
