Construction Manager Practice Lead

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Construction Manager Practice Lead to expand and lead its Southern California construction management practice. The role combines client development, pursuit leadership, project delivery, team growth, and regional business performance.

Project Details

The practice supports major infrastructure programs for regulated utilities and government agencies, including water and wastewater facilities, pump stations, pipelines, water conveyance systems, dams, and tunnels. The successful candidate will have experience delivering infrastructure projects exceeding $100 million in construction costs.

Responsibilities

• Grow the Southern California construction management business through client engagement, capture planning, proposals, teaming, and presentations.
• Provide leadership and technical support on active construction management contracts and major pursuits.
• Build client, teaming-partner, and internal relationships while strengthening project profitability and service quality.
• Recruit, mentor, assign, and develop regional construction management professionals.
• Serve as Project Director, Program Manager, or Construction Manager when needed.
• Support project safety, quality, financial, schedule, and technical performance.
• Advance construction management tools, processes, innovation, and professional-industry engagement.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, engineering, or equivalent experience; an advanced degree is a plus.
• At least 20 years of construction management delivery experience on major infrastructure projects.
• At least 20 years of client business development and proposal development experience.
• Experience serving as Construction Manager on major water, wastewater, pipeline, conveyance, dam, or tunnel projects over $100 million.
• California Professional Engineer license required.
• CMAA Certified Construction Manager and DBIA certification preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $193,787-$329,429. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability, wellness programs, paid time off, a company-matched 401(k), employee stock ownership, and potential performance-based bonus eligibility. Hybrid or flexible work options may be available after the first 90 days at management discretion.
