Electrical Lead Field Engineer - Power Construction

Job Summary

Kiewit’s TIC Power District is seeking an Electrical Lead Field Engineer to provide technical leadership for electrical construction, testing, commissioning, and maintenance activities on power projects. The position connects site operations, engineering, subcontractors, and project management while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and compliance requirements.

Project Details

TIC Power delivers direct-hire, non-union construction for major EPC power generation and resource facilities throughout North America, including cogeneration, combined-cycle, geothermal, and waste-to-energy projects. Work locations vary according to project availability and team development needs.

Responsibilities

• Direct field engineering activities for power distribution, grounding, lighting, controls, and related electrical equipment.
• Interpret drawings, schematics, specifications, and vendor information to support installation and commissioning.
• Lead field engineers and coordinate electrical work with mechanical, civil, instrumentation, construction, and subcontractor teams.
• Resolve field issues, review designs for constructability, support procurement, and help maintain project schedules.
• Oversee inspections, equipment testing, commissioning, turnover documentation, and project records.
• Enforce electrical safety practices involving lockout/tagout, energized work, arc-flash boundaries, and corrective actions.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Typically 5–10 or more years of electrical field engineering, construction, commissioning, or related experience.
• Experience leading field engineering teams on major industrial, utility, commercial, or infrastructure projects.
• Knowledge of power systems, protection schemes, industrial controls, NEC, IEEE, NFPA 70E, and OSHA requirements.
• Ability to read one-line diagrams, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, and engineering specifications.
• Experience with multimeters, insulation resistance testers, relay test sets, and grounding testers.
• Valid driver’s license, reliable attendance, effective communication, and ability to work safely on active construction sites.
