Energy Storage - Senior Project Manager I

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Senior Project Manager I to lead utility-scale energy storage projects, oversee project teams, and build strong client relationships. This is a traveling role with 100% U.S. travel on rotation.

Project Details

Lead full-lifecycle battery energy storage system projects, including site development, civil work, electrical installation, and commissioning. Project locations include Texas, Arizona, California, Colorado, New Mexico, and the Midwest.

Responsibilities

• Direct project quality, safety, schedule, and financial performance, including budgets, forecasts, procurement, and owner billings.
• Lead EPC contract negotiations, subcontractor and supplier procurement, contract administration, and change management.
• Manage and mentor Assistant Project Managers, Project Engineers, and other project team members.
• Serve as the primary contact for owners, clients, utilities, consultants, and site representatives.
• Identify and mitigate project risks while promoting a strong safety culture across the workforce.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, engineering, or construction management, or equivalent experience.
• At least eight years of construction management or related experience, including the ability to support complex projects.
• Experience in commercial construction, renewable energy development, EPC contracting, or emerging technologies is preferred.
• Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office, project tools, and relevant web applications; current driver’s license.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $144,300-$216,500, with higher ranges for certain office locations.
