Federal Civil Engineer

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Federal Civil Engineer to support civil site development and infrastructure programs for government clients. This individual-contributor position offers multidisciplinary project exposure and opportunities to contribute to federal engineering assignments.

Project Details

Projects support U.S. government agencies and may involve site grading, drainage, stormwater systems, erosion control, utilities, pavement, permitting, and transportation-related civil design. Typical federal clients include the Department of Defense and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Responsibilities

• Develop civil site plans and design packages covering grading, drainage, stormwater, utilities, erosion control, and pavement.
• Prepare technical plans, specifications, reports, permit materials, and related documentation.
• Coordinate planning, schedules, and delivery with federal clients, contractors, and internal technical disciplines.
• Participate in field assessments, site reviews, client discussions, and project coordination activities.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• At least five years of related engineering experience.
• Active professional engineering registration or licensure, or demonstrated ability and interest in obtaining a PE.
• Working knowledge of civil site development, permitting, grading, stormwater management, and Autodesk Civil 3D.
• U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are required.
• Strong communication, problem-solving, teamwork, and client-facing skills.
