Field Engineer

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Field Engineer to coordinate field activities with project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and suppliers. The position is intended for candidates joining in 2027 and includes opportunities across operating groups.

Project Details

Assignments may be in renewable energy, commercial construction, data centers, federal contracting, or sports and entertainment. Project placement depends on individual interests and organizational needs.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate submittals, RFIs, design documents, pre-mobilization activities, and subcontracting support.
• Manage quality processes, inspections, punch lists, and coordination drawings, including MEP, lift, and formwork drawings.
• Compile turnover documentation and assist with subcontract and supplier closeout.
• Participate in project safety audits, support the safety program, and assist with scheduling.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, construction engineering, engineering, or a related science or mathematics field by summer 2027.
• Willingness to relocate or travel frequently for project assignments; current driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
• Related internship experience and knowledge of construction practices are preferred, along with strong communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and organizational skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $78,800-$98,500, with eligibility for a potential annual bonus. Benefits include medical, vision and dental coverage, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and other wellness and work-life resources.
