Field Engineer - Team Lead

Job Summary

Interstates is hiring a Field Engineer – Team Lead to guide and develop entry-level field engineers and technical staff supporting complex electrical construction work. The role emphasizes team development, workforce readiness, and coordination with project leaders.

Project Details

The team supports complex electrical construction projects. Listed work locations include Omaha, Nebraska; Fort Collins, Colorado; Sioux Falls, South Dakota; and Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Responsibilities

• Coach technical team members, provide feedback, and support their career development.
• Manage entry-level hiring and collaborate with project leaders to assign staff based on workload and development needs.
• Monitor team utilization, conduct performance reviews, and contribute to merit, bonus, and talent decisions.
• Provide technical guidance and support field and project work as needed.
• Help implement team standards, tools, and processes, and contribute to workforce planning and continuous improvement.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or associate degree in a relevant discipline, such as engineering technology, construction management, or electrical technology.
• Four to ten years of progressive technical experience in field engineering, electrical construction, VDC/BIM, design, planning, or a related area.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills, sound workload judgment, and interest in developing people.
• A bachelor's degree, technical team leadership experience, advanced relevant technology skills, and experience with complex electrical construction projects are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $90,000-$115,000.
