General Superintendent - Pipe

Job Summary

Garney is seeking a General Superintendent - Pipe to help establish and lead its Mission Critical Operations group. The position is based in Nashville, Tennessee, with extensive nationwide travel and potential relocation assistance for qualified hires.

Project Details

The role supports large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, and data center projects involving underground utilities and complex piping systems. Work may include water transmission, sanitary sewer, force main, storm drainage, fire water, and process piping infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Direct field operations, manpower, equipment, logistics, production, and multiple work fronts on major projects.
• Recruit, coach, and develop superintendents, foremen, and craft personnel.
• Establish execution standards, workforce development practices, and scalable operating processes.
• Lead pull planning, phase planning, schedule recovery, critical path tracking, and short-interval planning.
• Coordinate owners, general contractors, subcontractors, trade partners, commissioning teams, labor, materials, and equipment.
• Promote a culture centered on safety, quality, accountability, and employee ownership.

Required Experience

• At least 15 years of progressive construction field leadership experience, including 7 or more years as a Senior Superintendent or General Superintendent.
• Extensive underground utility construction experience and knowledge of excavation, trench safety, shoring, dewatering, testing, commissioning, and utility sequencing.
• Experience leading large commercial, industrial, manufacturing, Mission Critical, or data center projects.
• Proficiency with complex construction scheduling, CPM schedules, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or comparable platforms.
• Experience managing critical path activities, production tracking, resource-loaded planning, and coordination sessions.
• Strong collaboration, communication, planning, problem-solving, and team-building skills.
• Willingness to travel extensively.
