Job Summary

Kiewit Power Engineering is seeking a mid-level mechanical engineer to support construction-driven design for power and industrial facilities. The role is available from offices in Lenexa, Kansas; Lone Tree, Colorado; New York City, New York; or Woodcliff Lake, New Jersey.

Project Details

The Power district delivers engineering and design services across North American projects, including gas-fired generation, power delivery, environmental upgrades, renewable energy, emerging technologies, and water/wastewater facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Apply engineering methods, codes, standards, and technical judgment to intermediate-complexity designs.
  • Develop P&IDs, PFDs, equipment lists, general arrangements, auxiliary power requirements, and construction documentation.
  • Perform equipment sizing and specifications for boilers, condensers, cooling towers, tanks, blowers, pumps, and related systems.
  • Review design deliverables, coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams, and track work assignments and schedules.
  • Manage multiple engineering tasks while supporting safe, cost-effective, and constructible project solutions.

Required Experience

  • At least five years of mechanical engineering and design experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution or equivalent program.
  • Power, utility, or industrial market experience is advantageous but not required.
  • PE licensure is preferred but not required.
  • Strong communication, organization, initiative, teamwork, ethics, safety awareness, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, attend reliably, and work overtime or weekends when needed.

Compensation and Benefits

Base compensation is $100,000-$104,000 per year. Full-time employees receive medical, dental, vision, wellness, employee assistance, life and disability insurance, retirement matching, and paid time off.
