Pre-Construction Manager - Industrial/Mechanical

Job Summary

The Weitz Company is hiring a Pre-Construction Manager to lead complex industrial and mechanical preconstruction efforts, guide project teams, and position projects for successful delivery.

Project Details

The role supports medium-sized to large industrial projects requiring mechanical and piping expertise. Power and energy experience is preferred, with coordination across design, engineering, operations, trade partners, and suppliers.

Responsibilities

• Direct estimating, scheduling, project strategy, communication, and preconstruction reporting.
• Monitor progress, identify cost and schedule risks, and recommend corrective actions.
• Coordinate building systems, safety planning, budgets, and schedules with internal teams and external partners.
• Lead preconstruction meetings and support accurate, profitable handoffs to operations.
• Build relationships with clients, vendors, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Promote consistent processes and use BIM, LEED, and LEAN approaches where appropriate.

Required Experience

• At least eight years of industrial construction estimating and/or project management experience.
• Previous industrial, mechanical, and piping experience; power or energy experience is preferred.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management or a related field is preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated ability to lead, teach, develop, and mentor team members.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and apply sound judgment, negotiation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, Revit, and Timberline Estimating.
