Project Director - Water/Wastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Director to lead business growth, client development, and project oversight for water and wastewater infrastructure across Charleston and the coastal South Carolina and Georgia markets.

Project Details

The role supports municipal, state, local government, and utility clients on water and wastewater infrastructure programs, including treatment and related community infrastructure solutions.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain relationships with public agency, utility, and prospective clients.
• Develop growth strategies, identify opportunities, and lead proposals, presentations, budgeting, and contracting.
• Oversee projects and Engineering Managers while supporting staffing and successful delivery.
• Recruit, mentor, coach, and retain technical professionals.
• Represent the company through industry associations, client workshops, presentations, and community activities.
• Manage business objectives, sales targets, contracts, budgets, risks, and financial considerations.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
• 20+ years of business development and project management experience with water and wastewater technical engineering experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) credential required.
• Strong knowledge of water and wastewater markets, sales, negotiation, communication, presentation, and leadership.
• Ability to travel to client sites and work effectively with diverse teams and shifting priorities.
