Project Engineer

Job Summary

Ames Construction is hiring a Project Engineer to support field execution and coordination for heavy civil construction in Carlin, Nevada.

Project Details

The role supports large-scale infrastructure work, including highways, bridges, utilities, and site development. Work takes place on active outdoor construction sites, and travel between sites may be required.

Responsibilities

• Support construction planning, schedules, budgets, and coordination among field teams and project stakeholders.
• Review temporary works and construction methods, inspect work and materials, and coordinate corrective actions.
• Provide technical support to crews and subcontractors, track progress, and prepare daily reports and quantity records.
• Perform quality checks against plans, specifications, contract documents, and approved submittals.
• Promote job-site safety, OSHA compliance, and proper PPE use.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least two years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or in a similar heavy civil or highway construction role.
• Knowledge of civil construction methods, equipment, materials, OSHA requirements, and job-site safety practices.
• Strong organization, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Availability for extended hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays as project schedules require.
