Project Engineer I

Job Summary

McShane Construction is hiring a Project Engineer I for a full-time, in-office role supporting construction project delivery and developing project management skills.

Project Details

The company works across multifamily, industrial, commercial, and healthcare markets.

Responsibilities

• Review drawings and subcontractor proposals, and assist with bid evaluations and subcontractor qualification.
• Maintain project records and controls, including RFIs, submittals, procurement, meeting minutes, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
• Support contract review, insurance compliance, job cost reporting, owner payment applications, and resolution of project issues.
• Contribute to schedule updates, quality tracking, project safety planning, orientations, and weekly jobsite safety audits.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, architecture, construction management, or a related field; internship experience preferred.
• Strong communication skills for working with clients, design consultants, and trade partners.
• Proficiency with construction management software, including Salus and PlanGrid, as well as Microsoft Office.
• Must live within one hour of Rosemont, Illinois; relocation is not offered.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license and authorization to work in the United States required.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary of $78,000, with eligibility for a discretionary annual bonus and cell phone allowance. Benefits include health, dental, and vision coverage, 401(k) with company match and profit sharing, life and disability insurance, student loan assistance, paid parental leave, and 15 PTO days.
