Project Engineer - Structural Steel

Job Summary

Tutor Perini Civil-East is seeking a Project Engineer to support structural steel project delivery at its Old Saybrook, Connecticut site. The role assists with coordination and project controls from planning through completion, with a focus on safety, quality, cost, and schedule.

Project Details

The position supports structural steel work within a civil construction business that delivers infrastructure such as bridges, highways, tunnels, transit systems, and water facilities.

Responsibilities

• Support project safety activities and assist project managers and superintendents with field and coordination needs.
• Prepare RFIs, work plans, submittals, and time-and-material pricing documentation.
• Coordinate with owners, designers, fabricators, subcontractors, and field teams to address design, procurement, schedule, and constructability matters.
• Track quantities and costs, assist with CPM schedules, maintain as-built drawings, and communicate contract scope to field staff.
• Help identify improvements to project productivity and quality.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or an equivalent discipline from an accredited institution.
• At least 8 years of experience in structural steel erection, heavy civil construction, bridges, vertical construction, or other steel structures.
• Experience coordinating contract, design, and shop drawings and developing construction means and methods.
• Ability to monitor current and projected final costs, with strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary range is $125,000 to $175,000, depending on experience.
