Project Manager - Heavy Civil Construction - Solar

Job Summary

Lead complex heavy civil projects for Granite, overseeing strategy, project teams, financial results, risk, and client relationships in an on-site, project-based role.

Project Details

The position supports heavy civil construction, including utility-scale solar and large-scale site development work. Relevant scopes may include grading, access roads, equipment pads, drainage, and aggregate surfacing.

Responsibilities

• Direct project startup, planning, execution, and closeout, coordinating field teams, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and other resources.
• Manage budgets, costs, revenue, cash flow, forecasts, schedules, contracts, and project controls; respond to performance trends and risks.
• Lead contract administration, change management, claims documentation, recovery planning, and risk mitigation.
• Maintain relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, agencies, designers, inspectors, and other stakeholders.
• Coach project personnel and contribute to estimating, bid reviews, risk assessment, preconstruction, and project handoffs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant construction experience.
• Five to ten years of progressively responsible construction or project experience, preferably in heavy civil construction.
• Experience independently leading complex projects, including financial performance, scheduling, contracts, risk management, field coordination, subcontractors, client relationships, and project teams.
• Advanced knowledge of heavy civil construction methods, project controls, cost management, forecasting, and field operations.
• Preferred experience includes earthwork, mass grading, paving, utilities, concrete, drainage, large-scale site development, or renewable energy projects. HCSS HeavyJob and GPS/GNSS machine-control systems experience are also preferred.
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary range of $121,754-$182,631. Benefits include paid holidays and sick leave; medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance; flexible spending plans; and a 401(k) match of 100% on the first 6% of eligible compensation deferred, with immediate vesting.
