Safety Manager I

Job Summary

Mortenson is seeking a Safety Manager to lead safety initiatives and support multiple construction project teams and sites. The first assignment is in New Mexico, with the option to relocate to Denver or travel to a subsequent project.

Project Details

Initial project assignment in New Mexico; candidates may relocate to Denver, Colorado, or continue traveling to future assignments.

Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of the company safety program across project teams and coordinate with trade and joint-venture partners.
• Review site hazards, develop and deliver safety training, and monitor construction work through audits and observations.
• Track safety metrics and OSHA reports, investigate incidents, and support corrective actions and high-risk work planning.
• Mentor safety staff and support safety leadership in meeting performance goals.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in safety, occupational health, or a related field; alternatively, a high school diploma with CHST, OSHA 500, and substantial relevant experience.
• At least six years of dedicated construction safety experience managing project safety programs, hazard analyses, controls, training, and work planning.
• Experience on large, complex projects with many subcontractor workers; safety team management experience is preferred.
• CSP preferred; valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 100% required.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $119,200-$178,900, with higher ranges for certain listed office locations. The role is eligible for an incentive plan. Benefits include medical, prescription, vision, dental, a 401(k) with company match, paid time off, insurance, tuition reimbursement, and other programs.
