Senior Project Design Lead (Senior Project Engineer)

Job Summary

Primoris is seeking a Senior Project Design Lead to mentor design leads and support engineering delivery for utility-scale solar projects, promoting safe, reliable designs and consistent project processes.

Project Details

The role supports utility-scale solar PV facilities from preliminary design through issued-for-construction drawings, working across engineering disciplines and with Engineers of Record.

Responsibilities

• Coach and train project design leads and associate design leads, and contribute to design reviews.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables and help review Engineer of Record and EPC contract scopes.
• Forecast design staffing needs, improve standards and workflows, and lead or track process initiatives.
• Guide designs to account for construction methods and long-term operations, and consult field specialists as needed.
• Support value engineering and cost analysis, and build effective relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, and vendors.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, engineering technology, construction management, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
• At least 7 years of experience in design, design process management, or design execution.
• Experience with utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects, including field experience and familiarity with EPC processes.
• Knowledge of engineering design processes and experience coordinating engineers across multiple disciplines, including at least two of civil, electrical, mechanical, and commissioning.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Visio, with strong communication, organization, prioritization, and supervisory skills.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual salary of $120,000–$160,000, depending on experience and qualifications. Benefits include 401(k) matching, medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, paid holidays, a stock purchase plan, and relocation assistance.
