Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer in Houston to manage a small project or an assigned portion of a larger project with oversight. The role supports project administration, field execution, safety, quality, scheduling, procurement, and closeout while preparing for advancement to Project Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Support safety, quality assurance, estimating, change management, and field production tracking.
  • Coordinate drawings, specifications, submittals, procurement logs, deliveries, project meetings, inspections, and progress reporting.
  • Prepare estimates, scopes of work, schedules, purchase orders, and project administration records.
  • Manage subcontractor and vendor coordination, pay applications, project risks, and production statistics.
  • Lead assigned project closeout activities, including punch lists, inspections, as-built documentation, and operations and maintenance manuals.
  • Use Lean practices, construction technology, project management software, and accounting systems.
  • Train and mentor team members while building effective relationships with trades, subcontractors, vendors, and project leadership.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 years of construction experience.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, project management and accounting software, and required construction technology.
  • Knowledge of construction means and methods, Lean principles, self-perform work, labor productivity, project processes, and trade scopes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate across teams, lead production efforts, and optimize project productivity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds and work in project-site or office environments, including non-traditional hours when project needs require.
