Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead a major data center construction project in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This traveling role oversees project delivery, financial performance, client relationships, and team leadership in partnership with the Senior Project Superintendent.

Project Details

The position supports a complex data center project for the company's Iowa Business Unit. The work is managed by a general contractor and includes coordination with owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Direct complex construction projects from planning through completion while managing schedule, cost, quality, safety, and scope.
  • Lead project teams, assign responsibilities, develop staff, and foster effective collaboration.
  • Build and maintain project plans, budgets, schedules, forecasts, status reports, and owner billings.
  • Manage risk, long-lead procurement, change orders, subcontracts, purchase orders, and buyout activities.
  • Coordinate client and stakeholder communications and resolve project issues.
  • Oversee quality control, safety planning, constructability reviews, value engineering, and contract compliance.
  • Support preconstruction and maintain positive relationships with internal and external partners.

Required Experience

  • At least 10 years of construction experience as a Project Manager or in a similar position.
  • Commercial general-contractor experience is required.
  • Industry-related college degree required; equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • Experience leading, developing, and mentoring teams.
  • Experience with senior living, student housing, hospitality, condominium, or other occupied construction is preferred.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications is required; JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, and P6 experience is preferred.
