Senior Project Manager - Data Center Construction (Traveling)

Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead delivery of a complex data center construction project for its Iowa business unit in Des Moines.

Project Details

This traveling role supports a large-scale data center project and involves coordination with the project executive, senior superintendent, client, design partners, subcontractors, and project team.

Responsibilities

• Direct project execution from preconstruction through completion while managing schedule, budget, quality, safety, and scope.
• Lead, develop, and mentor project personnel while coordinating architects, engineers, owners, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
• Manage project plans, schedules, resources, buyout, change orders, subcontracts, purchase orders, long-lead items, and constructability reviews.
• Monitor financial performance through billings, forecasts, status reports, expense controls, and risk assessments.
• Lead client communications, resolve issues, identify mitigation strategies, and pursue value engineering opportunities.
• Establish and communicate project safety and quality programs.

Required Experience

• At least 10 years of construction experience as a Project Manager or in a comparable role.
• Commercial general contractor experience is required.
• Experience leading, developing, and mentoring teams.
• An industry-related college degree is required, although equivalent education and experience may be considered.
• Proficiency with standard Microsoft Office applications is expected.
• Experience with JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, or Primavera P6 is a plus.
