Job Summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead administrative and field construction activities for industrial projects, with power generation experience preferred. The role may oversee multiple medium-sized projects, a large project, or a major scope within a complex project.

Project Details

This traveling position supports the company's growing industrial business, with a focus on power generation work. Semiconductor project experience is also preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, track long-lead items, and initiate changes as needed.
  • Negotiate and execute change orders, subcontracts, and purchase orders.
  • Prepare project status reports, owner billings, and financial risk assessments.
  • Identify value engineering, scope reduction, and constructability opportunities.
  • Establish and communicate project safety plans for project teams and subcontractors.
  • Support preconstruction, manage buyout activities, and monitor contract, budget, insurance, bond, and scope requirements.
  • Lead and develop project staff, including assignments, mentoring, performance recommendations, and promotions.

Required Experience

  • Industry-related college degree required, although equivalent education and experience may be considered.
  • At least five years of construction experience, including project management experience.
  • Demonstrated success leading, teaching, developing, and mentoring others.
  • Experience with project management and scheduling software such as JDE, Procore, Bluebeam, or Asta, plus proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong business judgment, communication, negotiation, client relations, construction knowledge, decision-making, conflict resolution, adaptability, and analytical skills.
