Senior Project Manager - Substation and Transmission

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead substation and transmission services projects from its Walnut Creek operation. The position owns project financial performance and supports work across high-, medium-, and low-voltage electric infrastructure.

Project Details

Projects may include overhead and underground transmission lines, substations, distribution systems, private networks, and battery energy storage systems. The role supports both office and field environments and includes approximately 10% travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Lead project teams through substation conceptual design and procurement activities.
• Manage project scope, schedules, budgets, client expectations, and stakeholder coordination.
• Prepare proposals and respond to requests for proposals for services work.
• Promote a strong project safety culture and work effectively in corporate and construction settings.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• At least 10 years of relevant industry experience, including high-, medium-, and low-voltage substations, is preferred.
• Experience across multiple project execution phases is preferred.
• Professional Engineer, P.Eng., or equivalent licensure is preferred.
• Successful candidates must complete applicable pre-employment screening and onboarding requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

The annual compensation range is $190,489-$323,830. The position is full-time and relocation eligible. A performance-based bonus may also be available.
