Sr_ Project Engineering Manager Power Generation

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Senior Project Engineering Manager for its Advanced Power Generation team, based in Overland Park, Kansas. This role leads multi-discipline engineering teams on complex EPC and design services projects across the power generation sector, with responsibility for quality, budget, schedule, and client relationships.

Project Details

The Advanced Power Generation team supports utilities, independent power producers, and industrial clients on projects ranging from gigawatt-scale new generation to smaller industrial applications, including simple cycle and combined cycle gas turbine facilities. Work spans conceptual design through detailed design and construction support under E, EP, EPCM, and EPC delivery methods.

Responsibilities

• Lead multi-discipline engineering teams to deliver complex power generation projects on time and on budget.
• Develop and manage project budgets, schedules, and quality requirements across disciplines.
• Serve as responsible charge and establish work plans for assigned projects.
• Manage client relationships, communicate concerns to the project team, and support business development and proposals.
• Oversee design quality and conduct or review complex engineering calculations and deliverables.
• Review lower-level engineering work and assist with hiring, performance, and compensation decisions for subordinates.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 11 years of related engineering experience.
• Active P.E. license or engineering registration to serve as engineer of record (EOR) strongly preferred.
• Experience managing EPC or design services for simple cycle and combined cycle gas turbine projects in the U.S.
• Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle for power generation facilities.
• Working knowledge of procurement processes, contract administration, and engineering estimating.
