Superintendent - Station Finishes

Job Summary

Lead station architectural and finish construction for the Newark AirTrain project, coordinating field teams and stakeholders to deliver safe, compliant work through final turnover.

The role focuses on station finishes for a major transportation infrastructure project, including passenger areas and platform spaces.

Responsibilities

• Direct station finish work from initial installation through completion, including tile, terrazzo, stone, ceilings, drywall, painting, doors, signage, and specialty components.
• Coordinate daily sequencing with subcontractors and MEP, systems, structural, and civil teams.
• Maintain look-ahead schedules, track workforce and production, and address field conflicts or schedule recovery needs.
• Inspect work quality, manage punch lists and deficiencies, and oversee testing, closeout records, and turnover.
• Enforce site safety requirements and document daily progress, resources, and field issues.

Required Experience

• At least 12 years of superintendent or supervisory experience; general contractor experience preferred.
• Background in transit, rail, airport, transportation, infrastructure, or large commercial construction, with knowledge of station architectural systems and finish sequencing.
• Ability to interpret construction documents and familiarity with New York City practices, quality standards, and inspections.
• Experience coordinating union labor and subcontractors, preferably on MTA, Port Authority, Amtrak, NYC Transit, LIRR, NJ Transit, or airport projects.
• OSHA 30 certification and NYC SST Supervisor Card.
• High school diploma or GED required; related bachelor's degree preferred. Microsoft Office and construction management software proficiency required.
• Experience with phased construction in active transportation facilities and knowledge of ADA requirements.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range is $175,000-$250,000, depending on experience.
