TBM Mechanical Superintendent

Job Summary

Frontier-Kemper, a Tutor Perini company, is seeking a TBM Mechanical Superintendent to lead mechanical maintenance and repair for the Kensico-Eastview Connection Tunnel Project in White Plains, New York.

Project Details

The approximately $1.1 billion project involves building a deep rock tunnel between the Kensico Reservoir and the Catskill/Delaware Ultraviolet Light Disinfection Facility in Westchester County, supporting New York City's water supply system.

Responsibilities

• Lead maintenance, troubleshooting, assembly, and repair of the TBM and related construction equipment.
• Supervise craft mechanics and coordinate personnel, vendors, parts, and technical support.
• Manage preventive maintenance, spare parts inventory, and TBM manufacturer consignment packages.
• Coordinate schedules and resources, monitor productivity and costs, and participate in project progress meetings.
• Implement project safety programs and uphold safety, quality, and environmental standards.
• Work extended hours, including evenings and weekends, when project needs require.

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field is preferred.
• At least five years of relevant mechanical experience, preferably in tunneling or heavy civil construction.
• At least two years of supervisory or team leadership experience.
• Hands-on experience with hard rock Main Beam, EPB, and/or Single Shield TBMs.
• Knowledge of TBM hydraulics, PLC coordination, tunneling equipment, and mechanical repair practices.
• TBM manufacturer training is preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range is $199,000-$261,000, depending on experience.
