Job Summary
Black & Veatch is seeking an Associate Mechanical Systems Engineer to support the design and analysis of mechanical systems for nuclear power generation projects. This full-time role is based in Overland Park, Kansas, with potential hybrid flexibility after the first 90 days.
Project Details
The position supports nuclear power generation engineering work involving air, gas, water, steam, cooling, feedwater, condensate, and related plant systems. Assignments may include projects with teams located across the United States and internationally.
Responsibilities
- Develop mechanical system designs, engineering calculations, equipment recommendations, and technical deliverables under general supervision.
- Support sizing calculations for piping, pumps, control valves, heat exchangers, tanks, and related equipment.
- Prepare and develop P&IDs while applying company standards, industry codes, quality requirements, and project controls.
- Coordinate with project leadership, other engineering disciplines, clients, and internal or external team members.
- Contribute to process improvement, technology sharing, business development support, and mentoring of interns or entry-level staff as experience grows.
Required Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a recognized accredited program.
- At least one year of related work experience.
- Engineering-in-training (EIT) certification.
- Experience or familiarity with nuclear mechanical systems, including instrument or service air, water supply, gas supply, cooling water, steam, feedwater, condensate, or CO2 systems, is preferred.
