Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Surveyor Foreman in Beech Island to lead survey crews supporting industrial construction layout and installation activities. The role combines field supervision, precision surveying, crew development, and safety leadership.

Project Details

Work takes place in an industrial construction environment and supports engineering, construction, and installation teams through accurate site measurements, elevations, boundaries, and layout information.

Responsibilities

• Direct survey crews and verify field measurements, calculations, elevations, positions, and layout data.
• Prepare or oversee survey records, maps, sketches, reports, plots, and related documentation.
• Use surveying instruments, GPS technology, levels, transits, and related equipment to establish control points and collect site data.
• Coordinate survey results with engineering, architectural, client, contractor, and other project personnel.
• Train instrument workers, rodmen, helpers, and other crew members while supervising daily work.
• Develop one-week schedules, establish crew goals, review timecards and coding, and monitor unit-rate performance.
• Lead pre-job safety planning, address hazards, report incidents and near misses, and exercise stop-work authority when necessary.

Required Experience

• At least five years of industrial construction experience involving layout or surveying responsibilities.
• Working knowledge of survey mathematics, technical documentation, mapping, geographic data, construction coordination, and crew direction.
• Previous supervisory experience is preferred.
• NCCER Site Layout, NCCER Fundamentals of Crew Leadership, NCCER Project Supervision, and NCCER Project Management certifications are listed for the role.
• Must be at least 18 years old and provide the required tools.
• Ability to perform strenuous outdoor work, climb ladders and structural steel, work in confined areas, and lift up to 50 pounds.
