Electrical Project Engineer - Substation

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking an Electrical Project Engineer to provide technical leadership and project coordination for high-voltage substation engineering and EPC work in Greenwood Village, Colorado.

Project Details

Support utility substation projects ranging up to 765 kV, including protection and control, physical design, renewables integration, HVDC/FACTS/STATCOM, data center integration, and battery energy storage infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Lead or support substation design packages, technical reviews, budgets, schedules, and quality requirements.
• Develop protection and control deliverables, physical layouts, grounding and lightning protection plans, auxiliary power systems, equipment specifications, and bills of materials.
• Coordinate with clients, vendors, subcontractors, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams.
• Mentor junior engineers, delegate work, and contribute to proposals and business development.
• Travel as needed for design reviews, construction coordination, and field verification.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited program.
• At least 5 years of related engineering experience.
• Active engineering registration or licensure supporting engineer-of-record requirements.
• High-voltage substation physical design and/or protection and controls experience is preferred.
• Project lead, QA/QC, client coordination, Bluebeam Revu, and Microsoft Office experience are preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Annual compensation is $126,423-$211,134. A performance-based bonus may also be available.
