Job Summary

Overland Contracting (a Black & Veatch company) is hiring an entry-level Safety and Health Technician to support field safety programs on a power generation construction project in Harriman, Tennessee. This role assists with daily safety planning, site inspections, first aid, and safety training under the guidance of experienced supervisors.

Responsibilities

• Support daily pre-job safety planning and conduct toolbox meetings with crews.
• Perform routine site safety, health, and environmental inspections.
• Administer first aid and serve as the on-site medical provider.
• Conduct drug and alcohol screenings per company substance abuse policy.
• Assist with accident investigations and hazard identification and mitigation.
• Inspect, supply, and maintain personal protective equipment.
• Enforce lockout/tagout procedures and support emergency action plans.
• Maintain safety documentation, records, and data entry in company systems.
• Train employees on safety practices, policies, and procedures as directed.

Required Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a construction environment, or equivalent education.
• Demonstrated leadership and organizational skills, including the ability to train others.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Preferred: 1 year of safety-specific experience.
• Preferred certifications: STS or STS-C, NCCER Field Safety, OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR.
