Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Packaged Equipment and Heat Exchanger Engineer to provide mechanical equipment expertise across complex process, energy, and infrastructure projects. The role supports equipment design from early development through commissioning and operations support.

Project Details

Projects may involve LNG, natural gas, hydrogen, ammonia, urea, fertilizer, gas processing, power generation, data centers, midstream facilities, and other heavy industrial applications. Equipment includes fired heaters, flares, boilers, cooling towers, air-cooled condensers, compressors, nitrogen systems, process skids, and heat exchangers.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer packaged equipment for safe, reliable, efficient, and cost-effective operation.
  • Prepare equipment data sheets, purchase specifications, cost estimates, and FEED and detailed-design labor estimates.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and internal engineering disciplines.
  • Lead technical bid reviews, vendor drawing reviews, inspections, testing, design reviews, HAZOPs, and constructability reviews.
  • Support equipment construction subcontracts, site commissioning, start-up, and troubleshooting as project needs require.
  • Mentor junior engineers and coordinate packaged equipment work across multiple projects.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and 5 to 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Active professional engineering registration or licensure in the United States and/or Canada to support engineer-of-record responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of ASME, API, NFPA, HEI, CTI, TEMA, and related process equipment standards.
  • Experience with packaged equipment, fired equipment, heat exchangers, compressors, cooling towers, or nitrogen generation systems.
  • Experience with vendor inspections, technical specifications, equipment materials, project drawings, and engineering support from concept through start-up.
  • Heat exchanger design experience and HTRI software competency are advantageous.
