Project Director WaterWastewater

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Director to lead medium and large water and wastewater engineering, procurement, construction, and service projects. This employee-owner role is based in Nashville with relocation eligibility and responsibility for client relationships, project outcomes, and multidisciplinary team leadership.

Project Details

The role supports municipal, state, and local government infrastructure initiatives, coordinating engineering, procurement, construction, and startup activities for water and wastewater projects.

Responsibilities

• Direct project performance across cost, schedule, quality, safety, contractual compliance, and client satisfaction.
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate engineering managers, project staff, third-party contributors, and owner representatives.
• Oversee budgeting, invoicing, payments, commercial management, and project performance reviews.
• Support business development through market strategy, proposals, client presentations, budgeting, and contracting.
• Mentor team members and recommend training, promotions, and staffing needs.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is required.
• 15 or more years of active water and wastewater experience with demonstrated leadership experience.
• Professional Engineering License and a technical bachelor’s degree are preferred.
• Knowledge of budgets, financial metrics, contract negotiation, pricing, risks, and payment terms.
• Ability to travel to client sites and work with conferencing and computer tools for extended periods.

Compensation and Benefits
