Project Engineer 1 - Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn is seeking an entry-level Project Engineer 1 to support commercial construction projects in Minneapolis. The role provides hands-on exposure to project coordination, field execution, quality, safety, and closeout activities while developing foundational construction management skills.

Responsibilities

• Support field operations, self-perform work tracking, crew and equipment monitoring, and jobsite observations.
• Assist with estimating, quantity takeoffs, subcontractor proposal reviews, change management, and procurement tracking.
• Maintain current drawings and specifications, track shop drawings and deliveries, and prepare project documentation.
• Participate in project meetings, inspections, safety and quality reviews, punch lists, and closeout activities.
• Prepare daily and weekly reports covering progress, manpower, production, equipment, and schedule information.
• Build effective working relationships with superintendents, foremen, tradespeople, subcontractors, and other project team members.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field; equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
• Entry-level construction experience.
• Working knowledge of construction management fundamentals, project technology, self-perform work, labor productivity, and Lean principles.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and strong written, verbal, collaboration, and organizational skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying weather conditions and non-traditional hours as project needs require.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $74,958.32-$93,697.91 per year, depending on experience, with eligibility for a target performance bonus. The position is classified as professional non-union and may require travel or relocation.
