Project Engineer I – Underground Utilities

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring a Project Engineer I to support field coordination and project delivery for underground utilities construction.

The role focuses on underground utilities construction.

Responsibilities

• Interpret plans and specifications, support sequencing and schedule updates, and coordinate materials, permits, and subcontractors.
• Manage quality processes, testing and inspections, submittals, RFIs, change orders, contract documents, and project closeout.
• Coordinate safety and compliance, track project timelines, and mentor field engineers.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in construction, civil or architectural engineering, or construction management.
• At least two years of related construction experience.
• Strong organization, teamwork, communication, initiative, problem-solving, and customer service skills; basic knowledge of construction law and business practices.
• Current driver’s license.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay is $84,100-$113,500, with higher ranges for certain listed office locations. The role is eligible for an incentive plan and offers medical, prescription, vision, dental, retirement matching, paid leave, insurance, tuition reimbursement, adoption assistance, and other benefits.
