Project Engineer 2 - Commercial Construction

Job Summary

JE Dunn Construction is seeking a Project Engineer 2 to support commercial construction delivery in Minneapolis. This role provides hands-on exposure to project administration, field coordination, safety, quality, scheduling, cost control, and closeout activities while working with project leadership and trade partners.

Project Details

The position supports commercial building projects and combines office-based project administration with regular jobsite coordination, field observations, self-perform work support, and construction documentation.

Responsibilities

• Assist with project safety, quality assurance, inspections, punch lists, and closeout documentation.
• Support estimates, change management, schedules, daily logs, progress reports, procurement tracking, and equipment monitoring.
• Coordinate drawings, specifications, shop drawings, deliveries, subcontractor scopes, and project meetings.
• Help plan crew activities, maintain look-ahead schedules, track labor and materials, and report updates to the superintendent.
• Use CMiC and other company systems for project setup, administration, reporting, and cost analysis.
• Apply construction methods, Lean practices, productivity improvement, and self-perform planning principles.
• Build collaborative working relationships with superintendents, foremen, subcontractors, tradespeople, and internal support teams.

Required Experience

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least two years of construction experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with construction technology, project controls, Lean methods, and construction means and methods.
• Ability to communicate effectively, collaborate with project teams, manage accurate documentation, and assess project productivity.
• Ability to lift at least 50 pounds and work outdoors in varying conditions and in non-traditional hours as project needs require.

Compensation and Benefits

Base salary is $83,204-$104,005 per year, depending on experience, with eligibility for a target bonus tied to individual and company performance. The position is classified as professional non-union and includes the company's benefits package.
