Project Manager - Power Generation

Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a Project Manager to lead complex power generation services and Owner’s Engineer assignments from development through commissioning. This employee-owned role is based in Chattanooga with flexible work options potentially available after 90 days.

Project Details

Projects include combined-cycle and simple-cycle generation, combined heat and power, boiler applications, and plant expansions. Assignments may involve greenfield, brownfield, or existing facilities and can span design review, feasibility, construction support, testing, and startup.

Responsibilities

• Direct project teams and client stakeholders through the full project lifecycle.
• Provide technical and commercial support for studies, design, cost estimating, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Oversee EPC contractors and coordinate internal and external participants.
• Support proposals, technical specifications, RFPs, bid evaluations, and client relationship development.
• Mentor Project Managers and Engineering Managers while establishing execution standards.

Required Experience

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
• At least 15 years of relevant industry experience, including simple-cycle, combined-cycle, CHP, or boiler projects.
• At least 9 years of project management experience with full accountability for project outcomes.
• Experience across project development, design, construction, startup, and commissioning for large or complex projects.
• Strong communication skills for working with clients and community stakeholders.
• PE, P.Eng, or equivalent professional license preferred.
