Job Summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a senior rotating equipment engineer to provide technical leadership for construction, start-up, pre-commissioning, and commissioning activities on LNG and FLNG projects.

Project Details

The role supports onshore LNG facilities, offshore FLNG vessels, shipyards, and production sites worldwide. Additional assignments may involve ammonia, urea, nitric acid, hydrogen, carbon capture, and simple- or combined-cycle power projects.

Responsibilities

  • Engineer, specify, select, and evaluate rotating equipment and machinery auxiliary systems.
  • Prepare equipment data sheets, purchase specifications, cost estimates, bid evaluations, and technical clarifications.
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and internal engineering disciplines.
  • Review vendor drawings, participate in inspections, testing, HAZOPs, model reviews, and constructability reviews.
  • Develop rotating equipment subcontracts and provide field troubleshooting during construction, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
  • Lead rotating equipment teams, supervise staff, and mentor junior engineers.

Required Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Professional Engineer registration or licensure in the United States and/or Canada.
  • Experience with LNG, FLNG, gas processing, chemical, ammonia, hydrogen, or power projects.
  • Knowledge of pumps, centrifugal and positive-displacement compressors, turbines, expanders, refrigeration equipment, controls, and machinery monitoring systems.
  • Experience with API 610, 611, 612, 613, 614, 616, 617, 618, 619, 682, 692, 671, 677, 673, 674, 675, 676, 685, 686, 541, and 546 standards, as well as applicable NEMA, IEEE, and ASME codes.
  • Experience with NACE requirements, equipment performance testing, mechanical run tests, material selection, and rotating equipment API overlay specifications.
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and multi-project coordination skills.
