Energy Storage - Project Manager I and II

Job Summary

Mortenson is hiring Project Manager I and II candidates to lead project execution for its Energy Storage Group. The role includes overall responsibility for project performance, team leadership, and client relationships.

Project Details

Work is within the energy storage group, with assignments across Arizona, Texas, California, Oklahoma, the Midwest, and Colorado. The position requires 100% travel on a rotation.

Responsibilities

• Manage project budgets, forecasts, cost coding, invoices, and owner billings.
• Lead procurement and contracting for subcontractors and suppliers, including bid evaluation, scope development, and contract negotiations.
• Guide assistant project managers and project engineers through assignments, feedback, and career development.
• Serve as the primary contact for owners and site representatives, resolving concerns and maintaining strong working relationships.
• Manage change orders and coordinate customer or architect approvals.
• Support or lead EPC contract negotiations and align technical exhibits, scope, and schedules with contract requirements.

Required Experience

• Project Manager I: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or construction field, or equivalent experience, and at least six years of related experience.
• Project Manager II: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or construction field, or equivalent experience, and at least seven years of construction management or related experience with large projects.
• Experience managing complex projects, organizing multiple tasks, and applying construction law and standard business practices.
• Intermediate Microsoft Office, project, and relevant web application skills.
• Current driver’s license and strong communication, customer service, and professional skills.
• Commercial construction, renewable energy project development, EPC contracting, or emerging technology experience is preferred for Project Manager I.

Compensation and Benefits

Base pay ranges from $113,500 to $170,300 for Project Manager I and from $132,100 to $198,200 for Project Manager II, with location-based adjustments for certain offices.
