HVAC Field Engineer

Job Summary

WDF Inc., a Tutor Perini company, is hiring an HVAC Field Engineer to support mechanical construction work at Mt. Vernon and New York Metro project sites. The role coordinates field execution with project teams, designers, and trade partners.

Project Details

Work involves HVAC installation on construction projects in the New York Metro area, supporting mechanical systems from planning through commissioning and closeout.

Responsibilities

• Review HVAC plans and submittals, support layout and BIM coordination, and help resolve field or design conflicts with project partners.
• Monitor installations, inspect work quality, track field progress, and document deliveries and site conditions.
• Assist with project scheduling, progress tracking, cost records, change documentation, and subcontractor billing review.
• Coordinate testing and balancing, startup and commissioning records, and collection of as-builts, manuals, and warranties.
• Promote safe work practices and check that installations meet applicable codes and environmental requirements.

Required Experience

• High school diploma required; a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, construction management, or a related field is preferred.
• At least two years of HVAC or MEP construction experience in a field or project engineering role.
• Knowledge of HVAC systems, construction documents, specifications, submittals, and mechanical codes including ASHRAE, SMACNA, and IMC.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and MS Project or Primavera P6; commissioning familiarity is expected.
• Experience with a general contractor or large mechanical subcontractor is strongly preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

Expected salary range is $85,000-$105,000, depending on experience.
